What Customers Say

Common Questions

Quick answers to what new buyers ask most.

What is the difference between CO2 and fiber lasers?

CO2 lasers excel at engraving and cutting organic materials like wood, acrylic, leather, and fabric. Fiber lasers are designed for marking and engraving metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, and brass. Many businesses start with a CO2 for general work and add a fiber later for metal projects.

Do I need ventilation or an exhaust system?

Yes. All laser engraving produces fumes. Monport CO2 machines have a built-in exhaust port that connects to a standard 4-inch duct fan. We recommend venting outdoors or through an inline fume filter. Our guides page has a step-by-step ventilation setup walkthrough.

Which software works with Monport lasers?

Our CO2 machines use Ruida controllers and work with LightBurn (recommended), RDWorks, and CorelLASER. Fiber models support EzCad2 and LightBurn (fiber edition). LightBurn is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Can I cut metal with a CO2 laser?

Standard CO2 lasers cannot cut bare metal. However, they can engrave coated or anodized metals and cut thin metallic foils. If you need to mark or engrave bare metals (stainless steel, aluminum, brass), you will need a fiber laser. We are happy to help you decide which machine fits your project.

How long does shipping take to the US?

Most models ship from our California warehouse and arrive within 3 to 7 business days via FedEx or UPS Ground. Orders placed before 1 PM PST on business days typically ship the same day. International shipping is available and usually takes 10 to 15 business days.

What does the warranty cover?

Our 2-year warranty covers the laser tube, power supply, controller board, stepper motors, and all mechanical components against manufacturing defects. Consumable items like lenses and mirrors are covered for 6 months. We also provide free lifetime technical support through our help desk.
